Participation in the Smartcity Innovation Hub is one of several endeavours of NITDA aimed at driving ICT growth and penetration in the country as part of the National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Strategic Plan 2010-2015. Smart initiatives under the plan include the national e-government masterplan, the Tinapa Knowledge City and the Lekki Software Development Academy. At SmartCity, we see nothing but opportunity. We realize that over the years, ICT has oiled the wheels of global economic and industrial progress. This awakening economic giant, Nigeria, would need the might of Technology to find its feet. Thus while others are seeing just lush, green vegetation in a pristine stretch of rainforest along the Lekki-Epe Corridor, we see an ICT-Park and City rising. We see Innovation Hub firmly placing the megacity of Lagos on the global ICT map. Bringing together technological sector drivers, R&D specialists, innovators, inventors with supporting industries and services like the financial, insurance, legal and the media, (and not leaving behind the regulatory agencies) Innovation Hub promises to be an all-encompassing technology city. When opens in 2016, Innovation Hub will prove to be a rich medium for the conception, fostering and launching of far-reaching industry innovations. This is because Innovation Hub would provide an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation and invention. Our principal aim is the creation of a cluster of choice ICT businesses in a purpose-built community to harness our vast intellectual resources in the development of world-class ICT products and services. All these would help to place our nation in a place of pride and honour in today’s knowledge economy.
